DJ CHLOE VAN PARIS New York Burlesque Festival (Oct 1 2009) / English Bio

Chloe Van Paris, record producer
and DJ sensation on Paris’ exploding burlesque scene,
will make her US debut at the 2009 New York Burlesque Festival.

DJ Chloe – aka Chloe Dreyfus (of the Dreyfus Jazz family) – will spin her one-of-a-kind flow of retro/nouveau/glam at the festival’s Teaser Party, Thursday, October 1st, 8PM at Public Assembly (70 N. 6th Street, Williamsburg). DJ Chloe spins at 12:30 a.m.

New York – Chloe Van Paris, daughter of famed French record producer Francis Dreyfus (Jean Michel Jarre, Dreyfus Jazz), has made a name of her own in recent years with her wildly popular jazz and Broadway compilations, and also for her popular fashion blog (which features art, couture, vintage lingerie images and music) - http://chloevanparis.blogspot.com/.

With the last year, DJ Chloe has found a perfect audience for her musical and visual sensibilities – Paris’s Burlesque scene – which like New York, has been experiencing a healthy resurgence. Within the last year, Chloe has been the DJ of choice for all of the major Parisian parties and events, including their city-wide festival. DJ Chloe has become the buzz of Paris, appearing recently in several French glossies, such as DS and Blast.

Chloe describes her sound as "neo-retro, dyslexic & babydoll - mixing all kind of styles.” Vintage sounds are her specialty, particularly sounds of the 30's-60's (French and American) - including Swing Jazz, Vintage Oldies, sounds of the Ziegfeld Follies & Hollywood Musicals; all periods of rock 'n roll; girl groups; 70's-80's punk and new wave; mutant Euro-disco; dance and electro. Mixed, as Chloe says, in a “glamorous, rock 'n roll and wild girly way.”

In the last decade, Burlesque has been flourishing in New York, and looks to be here to stay. From Gypsy's resurrection on Broadway to burlesque scenes on the hit television show Gossip Girl, the bump n' grind has shimmied its way back into popular culture.

Helping to lead this colorful charge is The Annual New York Burlesque Festival, now teasing its way into its 7th year. It is the largest burlesque event in the world, and has attracted sold-out crowds since its beginning in 2002. Festival producers, Thirsty Girl & Pontani Sisters Productions will deliver forth once again 4 nights of glitter and glamour in Gotham, with over 50 eye-popping performances from the world's leading burlesque and variety entertainers at four of NYC's hottest nightclubs. In addition to tassels and tail feathers, this year's festival offers live music, international DJ's, variety and circus performers, and boylesque.

Thursday, October 1st wet your whistle for pleasure at the festival’s Thursday night Teaser Party! The red carpet event will feature dozens of top Burlesque performers from around the country, and will be attended by festival producers, performers, sponsors, media guests and fans.
